Helping British Farmers
The Prince of Wales’ Charitable Foundation is providing initial funding of £200,000 for a pioneering new project to help British farmers improve their productivity in an environmentally responsible way.
The Duchy Originals Future Learning Programme will be run by the Soil Association, in partnership with Duchy Originals from Waitrose. Its aim is to help farmers develop innovative techniques to improve yields in organic and low-input agriculture, making the best use of renewable resources.
Mark Price, Managing Director, Waitrose, says the division is proud to be involved with the programme. “The Duchy Future Farming Programme complements other areas of agricultural work we are supporting,” he adds. “This is a timely programme that is set to deliver real benefits on farms.”
