Action of a humble hero
Christmas brough back memories for Bishops Stortford Trainee Team Leader Operations Giles Cooper. It had been a year since he’d attempted to save a dying pensioner’s life as an off-duty special constable, while on his way to work at the branch. It was an action that saw him win an award, a commendation and get nominated for another accolade.
For three years, Giles has been a special constable, devoting up to 60 hours of unpaid time a month. It’s a juggling act, as he is also studying for a degree in English Literature & Language with law and working part-time at Waitrose.
