Social media stir over new look Putney

The new look Putney branch caused a stir in the local community where its refurbishment led to much activity among Twitter and Facebook followers.

The store is part of the busy Exchange Shopping Centre, which posted news of the re-opening on its social media pages.

To add to the excitement, the branch agreed to give a bottle of sparkling wine to the first customer to post a photo of themselves at the new look store on the shopping centre’s Twitter page.

Meanwhile, the re-opening turned out to be quite a family event when the Tweedale family, who between them have 50 years experience working at Waitrose, were asked to cut the ribbon as the doors opened to the first customers.

Mum and Dad, Cheryl and Vince who have worked at the branch since it opened in 1996 and their daughter Eloise helped get the day off to a great start, according to Branch Manager David Coltman as he reported sales exceeding expectations.  “The branch is now better than ever and we’ve finally got what we wanted at Putney”, he added.
