Giant chips hits the streets

Thick or crinkle cut, oven-baked, microwaved or fried – this week, chip lovers everywhere celebrated their favourite food.

National Chip Week (19-25 February), organised by the British Potato  Council, aims to persuade chip fanciers to get involved in highlightening the popular dish, through chip parties and charity fundraising.

It’s one of the nation’s favourite dishes about 500,000 tonnes of potatoes are made into chips every year, and around 300 million servings of fish and chips are eaten annually in Britain – that is six servings for every man, woman and child.
