Donation to Polka Theatre

A theatre for children has received a donation of £2,001 from Waitrose.

The Wimbledon-based Polka Theatre – the only purpose-built theatre in the UK for children – is using the money to buy fabric to make costumes for its next play.

The play, called Kensuke’s Kingdom, is a condition in Japan 2001, a celebration of Japanese culture and lifestyle.

Polka’s Development Director Judy Vereker said:- “Waitrose has been wonderful, helping us with money for past performances and now the fabric.

The donations were in response to a letter regarding help for the theatre in its 21st year.

Charities Committee member Denis Coelho said: “I am very pleased that Waitrose has continued to support this charity”.
