Green Story

Waitrose Garden Society summer show took place on the Wednesday before last.  Although the number of entries was a little below that of the last year, (we could surely blame the weather for this!) eighteen entries were staged in the flower classes, seventeen in the vegetable class and sixteen in the pot plants.

The handicraft section was less popular – or is it simply a case of the majority of deft fingered Partners being away on holiday?

The overwhelming victory was obtained by Jack Pratt with Fred Grumball achieving second largest number of points, closely followed by Alan Graves.  Among the judges was our own Edi Baker from Marlborough (cakes and home crafts) and Janet Owen of Bracknell Reception judging flower arrangements.  This class was won by Biddy Reading of CVW with ‘Love Letters in the Sand’.
