I used to live in Lee, near Bromley and from around 1973-76 we used to shop at Caters in Eltham, which was poor, to say the least and at Keymarkets in Lee, which was worse. When Waitrose opened in Sundridge Park, on the way to Bromley, we were delighted. We shopped there every week from then on, until we moved to Sussex in 1983, where I shopped in Crowborough, Lewes and Uckfield. Now I live in Poole and shop at Waitrose here. We still talk affectionally about Waitrose, Sundridge Park - my complete shop was £10 for the family of 5 and it was all great quality, streets ahead of the rest. Quality is still great but the prices have risen - if I have the family here now it is about £250 for a 'shop'!
