Mr Waite was one of the early entrepreneurs to look at how brands and logos could help promote his business. He often had ideas for new merchandise and tried out these ideas on his family. Apparently he would ask for suggested brand names when they were sitting together over Sunday lunch!
These brands included Sunny Brook and Round Tower which were to become well known Waitrose brands in the 1930s.
