Wallace Wyndham Waite took every opportunity to promote his business.  He thought window display was a key way to attract customers into the shops and spent a great deal of time creating innovative window displays.

Often used to promote merchandise from across the British Empire, for which he was awarded the MBE, his window displays were eye catching and changed on a regular basis.

He also ensured the windows were kept spotlessly clean both inside and out.  His family remember he would go out at weekends, drive around the branches and run his finger over the window sills to check for dust and grime.

It was not good news for the young apprentice if the job hadn’t been done!
