Delivering the goods

From the beginning of the business it has always been important to get the goods to the shops and then on to the customers as quickly as possible.

Small deliveries could be made by bicycle but for customers who lived a distance from the shop or who required the delivery of a large order it became important to offer delivery and Waitrose fleet of vans were often seen around London and the Home Counties.

This picture show the vans outside Waitrose Gerrards Cross in an advert from the 1930s.
