A marathon run for charity

Barnet’s Chris Read, SM Delicatessen/Patisserie, has been training hard for the London Marathon on Sunday 2nd April [1995] despite torn knee ligaments.

He aims to complete the marathon in 3 hours 15 minutes and is looking forward to the event.  “I am raising money for the charity, Macmillan nurses for cancer relief.  If I complete the course, I will have raised about £500”, he said.

Did Chris manage to achieve his goal?

  • Unfortunately Chris passed away recently. A true friend who set up a charity a few years ago, A Smile For A Child. Running marathons was his thing.
