Golden Jubilee Trust

Leslie Edwards from our Caterham branch completed his six month secondment to the Marie Curie Cancer Care Centre in the town in December.

He was a trained nurse from his days in the Navy and was a medical room attendant for 20 years when he worked for British Coal.  His medical training together with his NVQ in care work and his experience as a helper in old people’s homes, made him ideally equipped to follow up his ambition to help the cancer care unit.

He said: “It was very rewarding and I felt I had achieved something.  I think the Golden Jubilee Trust is an excellend idea for people who have skills which they can use to help others”.
