Waitrose Muswell Hill - a closed branch

Waitrose Muswell Hill at 14 Victoria Parade, N10, was acquired by Mr Waite in 1919, along with Finchley Road, East Finchley, Golders Green and Surbiton. We believe that by 1920 Mr Waite owned eight shops.

Branches such as these would have sold tea, coffee, sugar, etc, loose and packed as ordered by the customer – each having its own special method of packaging. There was an art to wrapping a quarter of tea in a square flat piece of paper, dressed in an alpaca jacket!

Muswell Hill closed on 30th January 1954
