Bags given a new 'life'

Leighton Buzzard customer Mrs May Varney has come up with a novel way of recycling plastic Waitrose bags – she weaves then into new shopping bags.

Mrs Varney, who started her unusual hobby a few years ago, has even given lessons in the town at a bag weaving workshop.

Mrs Varney has been a customer at Leighton Buzzard since the store opened in 1973.
