Shoppers swap pens for pins
Shoppers may soon be swapping the pen for the pin as a new scheme to beat credit card fraud, went on trial this week.
A test run was rolled out in Northampton stores on Monday and shoppers were asked to use a personal identification number (Pin) when buying goods rather than signing a credit slip.
The initiative, known as Chip and Pin, is part of a bid to put an end to credit card fraud, which in 2001 cost half a billion pounds.
