Top wine draws big sales
Canary Wharf’s wine selection has recorded a record sale on a wine that has not even reached its shelves.
Penfolds Grange, considered by many to be the top Australian wine, is due in the store mid-June and already the shop has sold nearly all its allocation, which is priced at £110 per bottle.
Wines Manager Chris Rawlings said: “The Penfolds Grange is considered the most famous Australian wine and many people buy it as an investment, although some people will buy it to drink.
We are not expecting the 98 vintage in store until about mid-June and it is currently being shipped here. However, we have already received advance orders and have made record sales on it”.
The red nectar from down under is a South Australian shiraz and is highly sought after because it is grown in small quantities compared with other wines.
