An onion which won’t bring tears to the eyes or wreak havoc on the breath is being launched next month.

Supasweet tear-free onions are being sold in all Waitrose stores for the first time this year.  The onions are supplied to Waitrose by the Molton Bulb Company and are being marketed as the ultimate fresh use onion as they are mild and crunchy with a delicate sweet flavour.  A mouth-watering bulb the growers say, they can be enjoyed raw or lightly cooked.
