Sudbury: inclusive child trolley

Little Chad Wright can now enjoy shopping trips with his mum after getting his own specially-made trolley.

Four year old Chad, of Sudbury, suffers from muscular dystrophy and hasn’t been able to go shopping with his mum and sisters since he grew too big for the standard trolley child seats.

However, after his mum Penny spoke to Sudbury Department Manager Alice Lane, the branch decided it had to find a solution to allow Chad to once again enjoy shopping.

Alice contacted Bracknell Head Office, who arranged for a tailor-made trolley to be built.  The new trolley has a special seat with a head rest which gives Chad the support he needs, allowing him to sit upright for extended periods of time.

Also as well as being used by Chad, this will benefit other children with disabilities.

Comments about this page

  • I have somehow not spotted this page before today. I have shopped at Sudbury branch since it opened. I particularly remember a Christmas shopping evening for account holders, when a man from Bury St Edmunds gave us his advice about wine. This included red wine with less tanning and wines that would appeal to both sweet and dry wine lovers. He was excellent! That was the evening we also won a hamper in a draw! We love the store because there is space, helpful staff, a good variety of products including an essential range, an improved coffee shop range including at last decent decaffeinated coffee and local charities are helped. Delivery is also available if needed!
