Partner exhibits at Victoria and Albert Museum

Richmond Partner Janet Cobb has had her latest sculpture put on display in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The evening shift grocery Partner entered a competition called Inspired By, which was organised by the V&A, the world’s largest museum of the decorative arts.

The competition was open to adults studying arts and crafts part-time at college.

From hundreds of photographs of entries sent in from all over the country, 69 were selected and brought to the museum, where they are currently on display.  Ten winners were then chosen by museum curators, and the entrants were each awarded prizes.

Janet’s entry, The Burghley Nef, was chosen by the metalwork department, as it was inspired by a silver-gilt French 16th Century table ornament – a nef (sailing ship) held up by a mermaid.  The sculpture was made of papier-mache and will be on display at the museum until 27th August [2001].
