Partner charitable works - Dreamflight

Sunningdale BM Gordon Parris (pictured kneeling right) went on a 10-day trip to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida, to help as a carer for two 11-year-old boys from South London.

They were among 192 children who enjoyed a very special holiday with Dreamflight, a charity set up 15 years ago by British Airways cabin crew.

Gordon is a founder trustee of the charity ‘Children with Special Needs Foundation’, which put forward two of the girls that went on the trip.

He was chosen for this trip in the summer and undertook a day’s training at British Airways, Cranebank Training Centre near Heathrow.  He had to learn evacuation procedures for a planned and unplanned landing, as well as how the oxygen supply works and how the emergency escape chute turns into a raft.

The children enjoyed a send-off from the bank of Welsh Guards and Sir Cliff Richard, and on arrival in Orlando, they were met by 20 sheriffs on motorbikes.  This was the start of 10 days of fun in and around Orlando.
