The acquisition of the Bardon Regional Distribution Centre was announced in The Gazette of 1st May 2004: “Waitrose’s exciting and ambitious expansion plans – which include the recently announced acquisition of one Morrisons and 18 Safeway stores – are to be supported with the opening of a third Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) at Bardon, near Coalville in Leicestershire.”

“RDC3 is located just off Junction 22 of the M1 – about 70 miles north of our Brinklow RDC – and will significantly improve our distribution reach for new branches further north,” explains Geoff Salt, Distribution Director (Waitrose), who is pleased with what the new site has to offer.“The RDC is only five years old and is a 210,000 square foot composite, multitemperature warehouse with good yard space and facilities.

The Head of Logistics and Transport, Waitrose, was delighted that Bardon was now up and running thanks to the hard work of Partners from across Waitrose Distribution and Waitrose Systems.
