Two new beetroots launched

Waitrose is launching two new varieties of beetroot, which will help brighten up any salad or vegetable dish.

The Chioggia Beetroot, which is sometimes referred to as ‘candy striped’ has distinct pink and white concentric rings running through it, which are visable when cutting through.  It is also a sweet tasting, adding colour and flavour to many dishes.

Chioggia beetroot is grown on the fertile black land in Cambridgeshire Fens and is exclusive to Waitrose.

The distinct shaped, elongated cylindrical Sweet Beetroot is also very sweet, making it an excellent addition to salad either grated raw or sliced, but it is equally tasty roasted whole in olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

The Sweet Beetroom is grown organically on the light sands of the Houghton Estate in Norfolk which borders the Sandringham Estate.
