Bracknell Charities week 2010

Bracknell Partners found novel ways to raise money during Charities Week, and the final total looks set to exceed the £15,000 mark.

BANG, ZAP AND POW

Bryan Rush (right) and Nathan Robinson from the west warehouse wheeled a trolley around the site, in search of Partners who, for just £1, could guess the total value of their trolley load. They raised a total of £239.

BALLOONS OF FUN

Personnel Partners Elaine Hall (left) and Karen Plank got Partners to guess just how many balloons were squeezed into colleague Susannah Dobinson’s car – and, ironically, Susannah herself came up with 97, which was the closest guess to the actual number of 133! This contributed to a total of £227.64 that Personnel Administration raised from several activities on Friday alone.

PASSING THE BATON

A grand total of 70 different Partners carried a baton, nicknamed ‘Tubey’, 111 miles in a walking chain event. It was held from Monday to Friday, raising £125.46. Pictured (l-r) are Kevin Whitrow, Hella Lipper and Margaret Steptoe.

BADMINTON WITH A TWIST

Badminton enthusiasts donned Caribbean fancy dress for a tournament, which raised £25. Principal Programmer Simon Perkins and Analyst Peter Robinson won, but Fleet Admin Manager Richard Crossland and his partner Lorraine Gardner scooped a prize for best costumes.

SHOWING THEIR COLOURS

At their Strategy meeting at Longstock last Thursday, Waitrose directors wore football T-shirts (including those of Waitrose sponsored Reading FC) in support of Charities Week.

A CLOSE SHAVE

Assistant to Systems Director (Commercial) Mark Turner had

a sponsored crop from Head of Supply Chain Systems Kate Daly, which raised just over £1,400. He says: “A great result – and such a saving in shampoo and time!”
