Waitrose North Watford in the 1960s
It’s hard to believe this was once the stalls of a cinema – it looks like so many other supermarkets of its time. Plenty of advertising, tins piled high, a fresh meat counter at the rear and even state of the art Sweda tills to speed customers through the store. This picture must have been taken near Christmas with a smiling Santa waving from the ceiling! With coffee at 1/9 and PG Tips only 1/6 there’s only one thing missing – where are the staff?
