  • I remember The Kings Road branch in the early 80’s. We moved to Herne Hill south London in 1982 there wasn’t a supermarket for miles around. I worked in Westminster and it only took a few minutes on the tube to get to Sloane Square in my lunch hour. It was great and so different from anywhere else as sold Italian and Continental produce. People watching was wonderful all the Sloane Sq set, fashion designers, actors and anybody who was anybody shopped in the store. It was only a short distance from Peter Jones which was also frequented by all these people. Over the years as other supermarkets were built in south London, Waitrose Kings Road was still my favourite. We have retired and now live in Hythe Kent and luckily we have a branch in the town. People come from miles around to shop here! Especially with the free coffees on offer with your Waitrose card !
