Alcester (474)

Waitrose 474 Alcester

Opened on 11 June 2009, Waitrose Alcester shared its opening day with Waitrose Stamford. Both small town format branches have been opened as part of Operation Troy which sees the conversions of previous Somerfield stores.

The Branch Manager, Pete Falcini said that the new branch is “the talk of the town”. The people of Alcester are so happy to have us here; they’re absolutely delighted with us and the service”. The town had reported an increase in shoppers visiting the town since the conversion to a Waitrose store.

Partners transferring from Somerfield were full of praise for Waitrose saying that thanks to the training they and new Partners had received they were forming a strong team spirit from day one.

The branch had seen an initial rush of basket shoppers but this is anticipated to progress to trolley shops as time goes by.  A customer promotion for the branch’s Quick Check service delivered a “tremendous uptake” from customers wishing to register.

Branch Manager, Pete Falcini stated that “the builders and merchandisers left us with an absolutely beautiful building. There’s a real sense of pride and it’s a real team, even at this early stage”.
