Bagshot 514: Opening

Waitrose Bagshot was officially opened at 8am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Justice Secretary and Surrey Heath MP Michael Gove, and the Mayor of Surrey Heath Cllr Joanne Potter.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Bagshot branch manager Gary Collyer, who was previously in charge of Waitrose Sunningdale, said he wanted the store to be a ‘destination’ for shoppers and ‘part of the community’.

“Great partners (staff) and great facilities are the life-blood of our business, we are trying to create some theatre for our customers. We don’t want this to be a sterile environment or people will just shop online. Instead, we’ve got to make this store more of a destination.

Some people like food shopping while others find it mundane. The question for us is can we make it more pleasurable for them?”
