Branch closures announcement

Published 4th March 2020 – The Gazette released the announcement that the Partnership will be closing our Waitrose & Partners shops in Helensburgh, Four Oaks and Waterlooville.

Simon Burdess, Director of Selling & Service Delivery, comments:

“Today’s news is no reflection on the Partners in these shops – we’re extremely grateful for their hard work and dedication. Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, there are shops that just can’t make the profit we need and we must make difficult decisions like this that are right for the Partnership as a whole. As has been said previously, shops need to do more than cover their costs. They also need to generate money to allow us to invest in our business. Where shops cannot do this, sadly we must close them and support those shops or activities that are able to create value for the Partnership. We simply can’t put at risk the progress all Partners are working so hard to achieve in an incredibly competitive market.

I know this is of little comfort to the Partners impacted by this announcement and we will be ensuring they’re treated with consideration and respect, exploring every opportunity for anyone who wishes to stay with the Partnership.”

  • So saddened by the news of the closure of the Waterlooville branch this has literally been a lifesaver store to my disabled wife and I during the Covid19 crisis. The staff despite facing closure have been amazing, friendly, helpful and always manage a smile and reassuring comment for customers. This store will truly be missed by many, many customers. Thank you 🙏🏻 all staff at the store you are and have been real heroes during this difficult time for everyone.
