Great Malvern: The Great Heston Taste Off
The Great Heston taste off
Great Malvern decided to give Heston Blumenthal a run for his money when they organised a “taste off” between his mulled cider and Earl Grey and Lemon Gin.
The branch invited twins Alice and Phoebe Small, who work for Chase Distillery, which makes the gin and Weston’s which make the cider, respectively, to do a tasting in the branch and see who could sell the most products.
“The taste-off was great fun and created a lot of theatre” said Wine Specialist Alan Cole.
“The twins had plenty of sibling rivalry on who could sell the most”.
In the end, Weston’s won, selling 45 bottles of the mulled cider, compared to two bottles of gin.
