Harpenden Store

The images show Waitrose Harpenden then and now.  The church photo was taken in 1890. When the Methodist Church built a new church in Lower High Street in the 1930s, this building was first converted into the Rex Cinema and the cinema was then incorporated into Anscombes as a furniture store, until redevelopment as part of 183 Waitrose in 1984 when the site was cleared for the current branch.
