Bus crash near branch

Partners at Holloway Road were given an early morning surprise when a bus almost ploughed straight through the stores front windows.

The bus which read ‘sorry out of service’, is believed to have been stollen.

At about 6.20 am it collieded with two cars and demolished a set of traffic lights, before mounting the pavement taking with it a metal barrier and flattening a bench.

DM Fresh Foods Michael Hynes said: “It is miraculous that no-one was hurt.  The cleaners who were at the tills by the window were shaken up, we were lucky to get away with some broken glass and concrete.

The emergency services were really good, cleared away the debris quickly which meant trade was not really affected”.
