Presents from Kingsthorpe
Partners at Kingsthorpe are digging deep again to help youngsters in the care of social services have a brighter Christmas.
For the 15th consecutive year Branch Cook Jeni Roberts has teamed up with Northampton Social Services to give 100 youngsters a present each to open Christmas Day.
Each year Social Services draws up a list and supplies Jeni with the children’s first names, sex and age. Partners then choose a child and buy and wrap a present for them. They can write a message but gifts must be anonymous.
The Waitrose Council’s Charities Committee has also donated £375 which Jeni has used to buy each child a selection box.
Jeni said: “The number of youngsters we are buying presents for has increased, but they will each get a present and some chocolate this Christmas.
