High flier Tom delivers

Over Christmas Newbury WaitroseDeliver driver Tom Small will be keeping a look out for James May’s Toy Stories Special – as he was involved in its production and also appears in it himself.

Back in May, Tom, along with other students from Brunel University -  where he studied Aviation Engineering with Pilot Studies – was given the chance to help presenter James May and a BBC 2 production crew built a model aircraft for the programme.

Little did Tom know that his involvement wouldn’t end there.  He ran flight tests on the finished aircraft and, after he graduated, flew in a challenge style environment, which has never been attempted before.

Poor weather delayed the filming of the flight and, when conditions improved, the crew had to take advantage of it straight away – meaning that Tom had to take a  Saturday off work at short notice.

“My thanks must go to Partner’s for managing a busy Saturday without me”.  “I feel extremely privelaged to be involved in such an absolutely amazing and once in a lifetime experience.
