Ahoy there!

Ahoy there!

Oadby was thrilled to complete its first volunteering project, an overhaul of HMS Giles.  The boat, which is firmly anchored at a local school, was donated to Houghton on the Hill Primary School by the parents of George Smith, a local pupil who sadly died at an early age.  It has since become weatherworn.

A volunteering team from the branch spent 40 hours stripping the boat back to the boards before repainting and staining ready for the children to climb back aboard.
