Sanderstead (677): Opening

Waitrose Sanderstead opened on 30/09/2004

Waitrose Sanderstead was the fourth new Waitrose to open in 2004 and part of the Toronto group of branch openings. It was built on the site of a former DIY store and car park, the shape and size of the shop meant the conversion was a tough challenge. It is situated on one of the main routes into Sanderstead.

The outside of the building features a Portland stone banding and feature panels with a canopy following the curve of the building, linking the two entrances and increasing the visibility from the road.

The branch opened with a selling floor of 18 000 sq ft, with more than 1000 people having applied for the 160 jobs available at the branch.
