Blossoming trees in Blaby

Schools local to our Blaby branch benefited from the Waitrose 75th anniversary tree planting initiative.

Partner Christine Kiraly said: “Partners put a lot of thought into chosing the tree variety and finally decided on a Pink Pagoda from the Rowan family”.

“It has a lovely pink blossom in spring, turning into a pink purple berry – which isn’t dangerous if eaten – and will eventually have leaves that change through a change of colours in the autumn”.

The first tree was planted at Glenhills Primary School and the pupils joined in.

Five schools got involved in the project and Partners who attended to help supervise had just as much fun as the kids.
