25th October 2019 – Published online by the Gazette:
W&P is closing its shops in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on Sunday (27 October). W&P announced in July its plans to close seven shops as part of a regular review of its estate.
Bromley (Burnt Ash Lane) in southeast London and Oadby, Leicestershire, close a week later on 3 November, followed by Sandhurst, Berkshire, and Wollaton, Nottinghamshire, on 10 November.
Speaking at the time of the announcement, W&P Managing Director Rob Collins said: “I do this with regret for the Partners directly affected. Today’s news is no reflection on them – I’m extremely grateful for their hard work and commitment,” while Shop Trade Director Mark Gifford added, “We will do everything we can to support them over the coming months.”
The seventh store – Waterside at the British Airways headquarters near Heathrow – closes on 3 January 2020.
