Farewell Gloucester Road

Farewell Gloucester Road

The closing of Gloucester Road this week marks the end of an era: there has been a branch of Waitrose trading on this site in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington for three-quarters of a century ever since Mr Waite and Mr Rose first opened in 1913.

“With the exception of five Partners who are retiring and one who is leaving”, said Mr Peter Sharp, Branch Manager, ‘every other member of the branch will be transferring to Waitrose Kings Road, Richmond or John Barnes and department stores Peter Jones or John Lewis.

A farewell party next Saturday promises to be quite an event but meanwhile Partners say ‘farewell Gloucester Road’.
