Sheldon's tenth birthday party

Sheldon Partners, who always celebrate in fine style had an excellent reason for doing so last month, when they marked the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the shop’s opening in 1967.

“On Friday May 6” writes a correspondent, “the festivities began with the cutting of a very large cake, which had been baked for us by Mrs Diane Van Bueren, the wife of our Deputy Manager.  The cake was iced in the proper Waitrose colours of orange and brown.

Celebrations continued on Saturday 7 May, when we held a dinner and dance, with a cabaret at the Mayfair Suite in Birmingham.
