Debut in Guernsey

Connections

Waitrose’s debut in Guernsey on 10 March was a traffic stopping event in more ways than one. Local police dramatically escorted delivery vehicles as they negotiated narrow roads from port to branch in the final run-up to opening.

And on the day itself, motorists had to wait patiently as they queued for parking places outside the new shop in Rohais. But it was worth the wait. Customers and new Partners found the shop – one of five branches (two in Guernsey and three in Jersey) acquired from local firm Sandpiper CI – completely transformed.

At more than 30,000 sq ft, the branch has all the latest in Waitrose design, from an island deli counter to a stylish caféwith smart leather sofas. There is also a John Lewis home wares range; more than 200 local product lines from 15 different suppliers; and a post office, the fourth in a Waitrose branch.
