New look for Wallingford

At the beginning of July, Wallingford introduced a new extended non-food offer and sales are already feeling the effect; weekly takings have exceeded £10,000 well beyond the target of £6,500.

For three nights in a row, from Saturday, 30th June to Tuesday, 3rd July, 12-strong teams of Partners remerchandised a total of 115 bays – 36 of which have been devoted to a non-food assortment that includes cookware, bedding and bathroom accessories.  Space that had previously been allocated to the the ambient drinks assortment – among other lines – was used for the remerchandising and no lines were lost.

Acting DM Retail Wade Lavery says: “We’ve had plenty of positive feedback from customers saying that this is what Wallingford always needed.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Dave Harris and his team from Waitrose Head Office for all the support they’ve given us and to the Partners who worked the long nights to make sure we were ready for trade the next day”.
