The Waitrose Council
When Waitrose joined the Partnership the staff became Partners and after the end of World War II it became one of the “house councils” set up across the business. Each department store and manufacturing unit had their own council but Waitrose, given its small size had one council to cover all the branches. As the division developed this had to change and Waitrose moved to their own divisional council before the department store side of the business.
With representatives across the country including the Channel Island branches it has become very diverse and has to be flexible in how it reaches all Partners. Partner Voice within each branch tackles local issues whilst the Council now concentrates on an agenda of items relating to the whole Waitrose business.
