Fruit Trees potted

Leckford recently received the help of colleagues in Italy to dig up and pot 150 live fruit trees to sell to customers for planting in their gardens.

Workers from the Zelari Piante Nursery in Tuscany came over with a root-bailing machine, a specialist piece of equipment that allows trees to be dug up from the ground while being kept alive, making us one of the first nurseries in the country to be able to pot and sell mature fruit trees.

Commercial Manager Andrew Lazenby said: “It’s a good alternative use for fruit trees that have reached the end of their lives – they’re not commercially viable any more but are perfectly good as a fruit tree in someone’s garden”.
