Oakgrove (752): Opening

In May 2013 Waitrose Milton Keynes relocated to a brand new store, which was nearly 60% larger than the existing shop.

The new branch opened in Chaffron Way, Oakgrove, Milton Keynes on Thursday 9 May 2013. Partners served the last customer at the shop in Midsummer Boulevard just a day before.

All 169 Partners transferred to the new store, joining 65 new Partners, who were required for the bigger and more modern branch. The Midsummer Boulevard branch had been trading for 25 years and Waitrose has been trading in the area since 1979.

On opening day, 16 Partners who worked at the original branch and had 440 years’ service to the Partnership between them, cut the ribbon with the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Catriona Lewis.

The new store, at the time, had a café, extended non-food and the Waitrose flower garden concept. The 31,259 sq ft sales area offers the full Waitrose assortment, including the award-winning wine collection and food counters.

Facilities currently available at Oakgrove include fresh fish, cheese, delicatessen, rotisserie, patisserie, sushi, meat, bakery, hot food counters as well as a wine bar and olive bar.

Address: 3 Babbage Gate, Oakgrove, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK10 9SU
