Waitrose launched its fifth and final store in the Channel Islands on 14th April 2011, marking the completion of Project Redwood. Project Redwood saw a diverse team of Partners and contractors transform two supermarkets in Guernsey and three in Jersey into brand new Waitrose branches.
Moving to the Channel Islands has brought an extra 130,000 sq ft of extra selling space, plus its first international Partners (around 600).
Taking just four weeks to complete, the shiny newly refurbished store had an eager crowd waiting at its doors to be the first to see inside.
At 24,000 sq ft, Red Houses, located in the southwest of the island, is the largest of the three Jersey shops and all its Partners were employed in the old branch.
There is a wide selection of facilities currently available at Red Houses, these include fresh fish, cheese, delicatessen, patisserie, meat, hot food, bakery and Mai Taiko counters, as well as an olive bar. A unique aspect of this Waitrose is its pharmacy.
Address: Red Houses, St Brelade, Jersey, JE3 8LB
