Waitrose St Ives opened on 19th June 1990.
The modern building had the luxury of opening with a 500 space car park, as well as a dining room for the team of 162 Partners.
It was reported at the time in The Partnership’s in-house magazine, The Gazette that exotic and wholesome foods from Indonesian spicy peanuts to French grape seed oil were to be sold at the store. These foods were kept in the spacious warehouse above the shop floor, complete with moving, lockable racks and chillers. An ice-maker machine at the fresh fish counter kept sea produce cold and hygienic.
Facilities currently available at Waitrose St Ives include: fresh fish, cheese, delicatessen, meat and bakery. The St Ives branch also stock fresh produce sold within 30 miles of the store, free from additives and delivered straight from the supplier.
