Supervisors
John Lewis Partnership archives
The ‘fresh’ areas of our assortment in a shop were overseen by supervisors.
These travelling specialists would be allocated to a Group each in the areas meat, provisions, and fruit and vegetables.
They would visit the branches in turn checking that all laws and rules were being upheld.
Their role was also a two-way act because partners could also ask questions ,seek advice and highlight problems in true partnership fashion.
In this way the supervisors acquired an overall view of what was happening in the whole group, and through their own meetings, the whole division.
