Solihull 044

Waitrose Solihull was officially opened on the 23rd June 2016.  It has created 100 jobs with all new employees becoming Partners in the John Lewis Partnership.

Branch manager, Ben Service, said: “Following a multi-million-pound investment, we are proud to be opening in Solihull and are really pleased that Mr Knight [Julian Knight MP for Solihull] could join us to help unveil the new branch.

“Everyone in our 100-strong team is looking forward to providing the local community with a fantastic new shopping experience, including our latest products and services.”

The store has also become only the fifth Waitrose in the country to feature a sushi counter, which is manned by skilled sushi chefs who will prepare fresh products in front of customers throughout the day. The shop includes meat and fish counters, and a café bar with indoor and outing seating.

Waitrose has also launched two community-focused initiatives to support local charities and projects in the area which have been nominated by its Solihull customers.

Its Partner Volunteering programme will provide 250 staff hours each year and its Community Matters ‘green token’ scheme will see £1,000 shared between three causes every month.
