Sandbach (680): Opening

Waitrose Sandbach opened on 24/06/2004

Waitrose Sandbach was the first Waitrose to open in Cheshire and it was the start of 19 shops acquired from Morrison/Safeway being converted into Waitrose branches. The 20 000 sq ft branch was transformed into a Waitrose within 2 weeks and 171 former Safeway staff crossed over into the new Waitrose.

The product offering for fresh food doubled in size, the wine section also substantially increased. The opening assortment also included local products from the North West and a cafe.
