Stamford (484): Opening

With some customers queueing for over an hour to get into the car park, it’s without doubt that Waitrose Stamford was a hit with the locals when it opened on 11th June 2009. As a result, the branch recruited more Partners to cope with local demand.
Previously a Somerfield supermarket, the team took just three weeks to refurbish the entire store. 87 ex-Somerfield staff were offered jobs and training as part of the takeover.
There was competition from two other new supermarket chains, as Sainsburys and M&S Food Hall, as well as Morrisons, Lidl and Tesco were positioned in the local vicinity.
Facilities available at Stamford include fresh fish, cheese, delicatessen, meat and bakery counters.
Address: West Street, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 2PR
